  18. some weird stuff has happened with the 3d stuff over the past few
  19. software releases - with different utilites and demos coming and mostly going...
  20.  
  21. in the 2.06 disks there was a focal point utility for creating 3d soundfiles
  22. called fp3d.exe plus some documentation about how to do it...in that doc
  23. it mentioned another utility which you attached a 3d header to the file with
  24. called header3d, only its not in the discs.
  25.  
  26. Does anyone know where to get this from - or some other more recent way
  27. of making 3d soundfiles from samples ?

  58. I tried setting up the Miracle Piano Software with a GUS Max awhile ago, to no 
  59. avail. The main problem is that, if you want to use an external MIDI device for
  60. input or output, the Miracle wants it to look exactly like a Roland MPU-401 
  61. port. Nothing I've tried so far for the GUS emulates this closely enough to 
  62. make the Miracle happy.

  64. The last one I tried was MegaEm 3.03, which didn't lock up, but didn't actually
  65. work either. The Miracle could output just fine to GUS synth using one of the 
  66. emulations (Roland SoundCanvas I think), but anything that went out the MIDI 
  67. port was totally garbled. And I got no keyboard input whatsoever. I sent a bug 
  68. report to Gravis.

  79. I'm been driving myself nuts trying to get the GUS Max to work as a synth box 
  80. with multiple banks. My primary synth is a Roland JV-880. I have some fairly 
  81. good patches for the GUS, but I want to keep the basic General MIDI around too,
  82. because the Roland isn't GM-compatible. With around 20MB or more of GUS 
  83. patches (did lots of downloading just recently), the GUS makes a nice backup, 
  84. when I don't have just the right patch for the Roland.

  86. Which brings me to banking. I'm driving this with Cakewalk Pro 3.01, which does
  87. a great job flipping banks on the Roland, so I figured it would do likewise on 
  88. the GUS. But no dice, the GUS ignores the bank entirely, so far anyhow. I can 
  89. manually select a bank with the patch manager, but that doesn't cut it if I'm 
  90. trying to use multiple custom banks in the same song. Is this a flaw in the GUS
  91. MIDI support, or am I missing something. I'm using 3.5-something GUS software, 
  92. if that's any help.

  209. I had no success with switching melodic banks with CakeWalk Pro 3.0.  It 
  210. is possible, however, to switch drum banks with CakeWalk Pro 3.0.  
  211. First, make sure you have a drum bank created already with Patch Manager
  212. or by editing the ultrasnd.ini yourself.  Then, rather than using the 
  213. BANK 'window' in the Tracks View, use the PATCH 'window'.  If the channel 
  214. is set to GS Drum Set, remember that Standard Bank is not Bank #1, but 
  215. Bank #0, Power Drum Bank is #15 not #16 in GS Drum Set config.
